The City Of Love ..

Paris has many nicknames, like "The City of Love", but its most famous is "La Ville-Lumière" ("The City of Light"), a name it owes first to its fame as a centre of education and ideas during the Age of Enlightenment. The sobriquet's "light" took on a more literal sense when Paris became one of the first European cities to adopt gas street lighting: the Passage des Panoramas was Paris' first gas-lit throughfare from 1817.
Paris allows itself to be promoted as the city of love, and who can deny that? It really is a city for lovers, for strolls along the Seine, sipping coffee at a café, and for picture-perfect moments in romantic neighborhoods like Montmartre. Then there's the Champs Elysees, the Eiffel Tower lit up at night, and the many gardens like the Jardin du Luxembourg. In Paris, love is in the air everywhere you look around.

A Padlock in Paris Can Bring You Eternal Love

Probably the most poetic (and slightly ridiculous) gesture of romance in Paris is the growing trend that has invaded the Pont des Arts bridge. Couples engrave their initials into a padlock, lock it to the railings of the bridge and throw the key into the River Seine below. This amorous ritual is believed to bring the couples eternal love and since the recent trend took off about two years ago, a staggering 2000 padlocks of all colours, shapes and sizes have been locked to the bridge.
